The Private Equity Market in China is maturing as an onshore market based on the creation of a local China VC/PE model as a foundation to the development of Renminbi funds which are providing an attractive platform to both home-grown and foreign PE investors in China.

This developing trend for onshore structures is said to have contributed for thirteen percents of the EUR 5.5 billions of new PE investment in 2007.

For offshore structured-funds that have been pioneering the Chinese PE industry, there are still uncertainties to the applicable legal framework that governs their activity and they claim for a level playing field to enhance the domestic securities market and thus permit dual listings to give a deeper and broader access to capital to Chinese companies.

Two distinctive panel sessions will first detail the role of the Limited Partner in China new onshore RMB funds which is key to ensure the functioning of both buy and sell side of this market - panellists will include successful General Partners managing onshore funds and investors as well as representative body of Limited Partners and then address the key success factors for PE/VC deals to develop successfully through a domestic framework that will speed -up the investment process.

Chinese institutional investors will acquire an increasingly important presence in the LP market, and China's private equity investment industry will be integrated, more closely, into the global capital market.

For foreign investors, teaming-up with domestic players will not only reduce the complexities of a foreign investment approval but ensure at the same times the local fundraising and access to quality deals otherwise possibly excluded from investment scope.

Therefore, the conference is key to all parties involved in the development of the China Private Equity industry set to grow irrespective of the global financial crisis as China will be able to weather the storm thanks to its economic power engine, domestic capital formation, resilience and rising strategic overseas investments.
